No mot for pre 1960 cars

The goverment are looking at not having an mot test for pre 1960 classic cars, I like the sound of this but it does mean the price of 1959 and older cars may rise even higher

Re: No mot for pre 1960 cars

As they say, 'most' owners look after their pre '60 cars with only 10% failing the first MOT, the problem is that 10% in the first year, what about the next 5 years? it says per '60 vehicles make up only 0.5%, that makes a total of 16,200 un-roadworthy cars on the road in the first year  plus they decide not to test pre 1960 vehicles, will they then tighten the MOT for post 1960 cars?

Re: No mot for pre 1960 cars

It is all a bit odd in my opinion ;) I can't see it going ahead if there is a risk of unsafe cars on the road, as you say Al "most" enthusiasts keep there cars in great condition but there will always be some people who cut corners and that may endanger the lives of other people when nobody with a mechanical background is checking brakes, tyres etc on a yearly basis :( . On the other hand I'm getting on the net now to look for a 1959 .....anything ! :D no tax  , no mot  There getting cheaper to run !
